Admonition: Self Respect
The problem mankind have today regards relationship with one another is respect. Hebrews 12:14
Like I would like to say that lack of self respect is the cause of the marital and relationship problem many experience today. When a man does not respect himself,his wife will never respect him. For instance,a drunkard husband does not respect himself,also does a husband who bets with his salary and sleeps around. A woman loses respect when she is unfaithful to her partner and is found to be loosed in her tongue to abuse her husband and neighbours.
Faithfulness in relationship commands respect and maturity, self respect is at its peak in a relationship when you are faithful to your partner in every way possible.
A person who does not respect himself will never respect you.
As the wise ones always say “respect is reciprocal”…if you respect yourself,others will and must respect you.
Our Lord Jesus Christ taught us alot about self respect and he gained the respect of people of his time.the books of Matthew,mark,Luke and john.
Luke 6:31 And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise. C.f Matthew 7:12.
Many times we don’t respect others but want others to respect us…what goes around comes around.
Self respect gives you the check and balance to maintain peaceful coexistence with mankind.
Self respect is vital for doing the right things,taking the right actions,honesty,discipline amongst other things.
Never force people to respect you but instead let your life command the respect of others around you.
If you want to move forward this year, then respect yourself and do all the genuine things to gain self respect like work,honouring your parents,giving of alms,e.t.c.
It is interesting that even God respect himself and his name…do you respect yourself then respect God who is your creator.
Self respect also goes along with respecting your body,many sickness and diseases would have been avoided if we respected our bodies. You are not respecting your body when you smoke, drink, masturbates, sugar consumption, engaging in hard drugs, tattoos, piercings and others.
Self respect will be easily achievable when you let God turn you anew by giving you a new heart and spirit. Ezekiel 36:26-30.
Command self respect today and you have alot to gain: respect once lost is difficult to regain.
