resting in disobedience (part 1)

Topic: resting in disobedience (part 1)
Text: 1 kings 13:1-9
God raised a prophet from judah to go to bethel and speak against the altar. He went as instructed by God and God confirmed His word which made the altar to rent and the ashes to pour out V1-3. The king jeroboam wanted to contest the authority of God upon the young prophet which made the King’s hand to dry up like a log of wood until the prophet interceded for jeroboam and the Lord restored his hand. V4-6.
The prophet was enticed by king jeroboam to come and refresh himself at the palace and collect a handsome reward for his display of power and authority which was against the instruction of God for his mission.
He passes the first test by avoiding the deceit and enticement of the king.
Now if you understand this passage you will understand that every prophet called by God has a rules guiding their callings and God will always honour His words as long as you stand in the agreement.
As long as this young prophet obeyed the rule of engagement by God, God showed wonders to prove himself.
When the Lord sends his messengers to people there is an important role to play which is obedience and loyalty.
Disobedience to God is disloyalty to God.
